Yolanda Beasley

A former advertising executive, Yolanda knows a thing or two about what makes people tick. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario in business and went on to study screenwriting at Ryerson University and U.C.L.A.. Through her memberships with LIFT (the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers Toronto) and WIFT (Women in Film and Television) she absorbed everything she could about filmmaking.

An avid fan of romantic comedies and relationship dramas, this is her power genre. Her two TV pilots are currently being pitched to Toronto broadcasters and production companies. Her portfolio also includes two spec scripts, two feature scripts and a handful of shorts. She produced a one-hour stage play for the Toronto Fringe Festival, a short film and is currently producing her second short film. She has also written professionally for television, radio and the Internet.

Yolanda initially studied improv and acting to enhance her writing, and has since appeared in film, television and performed with the Impatient Theatre Company alongside some of improv’s top players since 2006. You can currently see her at the Poor Alex Theatre in Toronto playing with The Markov Variation.
