IMPROV 201: Game of the Scene and Second Beats
An examination of the two-person scene, with attention on the game of the scene. New challenges will elevate the improviser to a higher performance level: making more interesting choices, creating richer characters and building tension.
With a thorough understanding of scenework, students bring scenes to life through specificity in their actions, words and character choices. This course also introduces you to the Armando, an show in which scenes are inspired truthful monologues.
Instructor for This Class
Annie Bankes
As a native Ajax-ian, Annie grew weary of sunny skies and green pastures, and turned to Toronto in search of smog and traffic delays. She began her improv career by accident at The Second City Toronto and after completing their training program, Annie has since studied under many great instructors such as; Pat O'Brian, Jason R. Chin and Jeff Griggs (i.O Chicago), David Razowski (Second City LA), Rich Talarico (SNL, MadTV), Susan Messing (Annoyance Theatre), and i.O Theatre's co-founder and improv guru Charna Halpern.
Annie currently performs weekly with the uproarious femme-fatale team WDWMKR, and is a cast member of ITC's flagship show Munchausen. Outside of improv, Annie is an avid collector of degrees and diplomas, and currently possesses a diploma in Film and Television Production, as well as a Counseling diploma, half a Psych degree, and is working on a degree in Social Work.
